Hi! I'm Ashley Lewis!

My name is Ashley (Edington) Lewis. I currently teach K-6 art in Orem, Utah. I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and am the oldest of 4 children. I was married in November 2016, and currently live in Provo with my husband, Taylor. I graduate from Brigham Young University in spring 2018. I love to paint with a whimsical style, buy holiday decorations, go to Target, sit in Barnes & Noble and read children's books in the kids' section, bake (I don't know anyone who goes through Crisco as fast as I do), watch movies and Netflix, and play with my younger cousins, nieces, and nephews. I also love llamas. A lot.

I have had a passion for teaching ever since I was a young (and admittedly bossy) child.  However, once at Brigham Young University, I felt I could do something "more" than teaching, and began exploring other options. Through a series of coincidences, I ended up in the BYU on-campus preschool for a semester. I absolutely loved it. I loved the focus on developmental appropriateness and play in the classroom, and found joy in connecting with all the bright little minds there throughout the day. I soon realized that there was not anything "more" than teaching, and that my passion for this could go a long way in helping young children develop a love of learning, critical problem solving, and just allowing them to feel loved. Is there anything more important?

During the 2017-2018 school year I interned at Bonneville Elementary  in third grade to earn my degree in elementary education and my teaching certification. I spent the whole school year as the teacher of record for twenty-nine students, and thoroughly enjoyed helping my students to succeed and be engaged in learning. More recently I have become a Teachers Pay Teachers teacher-author, creating units, lessons, handouts, classroom management supplies, and other resources to share and sell with other teachers. It has been fulfilling to work hard on these products benefitting both my students and students around the country and world. I look forward to continuing to connect with the young and brilliant minds of the future as I work to aid them in their journey towards success.
